Fairy tale significa conto de fadas, mas quando usado como gíria, significa mentira. Exemplos:
“How can you believe in this fairy tale that he’s telling you?” (Como você pode acreditar nessa mentira que ele está te contando?)
“That problem is not that she created a fairy tale, but that she started to believe in it.” (O problema não é que ela criou uma mentira, mas que ela começou a acreditar nisso.)
