Sob story é uma história extremamente triste, dramática, com muitas dificuldades. Exemplos:

“During the interview he told his sob story for the first time.” (Durante a entrevista ele contou a sua história extremamente triste pela primeira vez.)

“I didn’t know that she had such a sob story from her childhood.” (Eu não sabia que ela teve uma história tão triste na infância.)
