Get the ball rolling é uma expressão que significa começar, dar o pontapé inicial. Exemplos:

“Let’s get the ball rolling on this project!” (Vamos começar esse projeto!)

“At the meeting, she was trying to get the ball rolling so we could finish on time.” (Na reunião, ela estava tentando dar o pontapé inicial para terminarmos no horário.)
